Dear Members and Friends of First Baptist Church of Selma
As we have continued to monitor the spread of the Coronavirus, it has become apparent that we should alter some of our ministry objectives. Out of an abundance of caution, we will not be providing nursery facilities during worship services. We have newborns, infants and toddlers which need to remain safe and not vulnerable. Mrs. Catherine Thomas, our nursery coordinator will remain in contact with families of children impacted by this decision and keep them informed as to any changes.
We are also going to change the method in which our student ministry will function on Wednesday evenings. Nathan Bullard will lead a worship time and study via Facebook. Our students are encouraged to follow this Wednesday evening @ FBC Selma Youth Ministry. This will continue as long as necessary.
We will continue to gather for Sunday school & worship for the foreseeable future. If you are a part of the segment of the population most vulnerable to contracting COVID-19 and face the most difficulty in recovering once diagnosed please remain safely away from our gatherings to protect your health. You can worship with us on WALX-FM 100.9 Sundays from 10:45 to 11:45. You can also access us at www.fbcselma.org as well as (334) 877-4400. Though gathering for worship will continue to be a week-to-week decision, we will follow guidance from our local health officials.
The ministry staff of First Baptist Church will continue working as needed to maintain important ministry, missions, and communication needs for the church.
I want to thank everyone who has reached out to express their concerns and offer their support and prayers for the staff and I as we’ve struggled through these decisions. I understand and share your concerns. I would ask that you pray for your church and the staff in coming weeks; pray for wisdom and understanding. Also, I would ask that you not let this be something the enemy can use to attack the strong unity that exists within our church body.
I want to declare to you that my core belief is that the church was made for such a time as this! When the world is living in fear, we can live by faith. When the world is hopeless, we can offer them hope. When the world is sick, we can offer them healing. When the world needs saving, we can share the good news of Jesus, the Savior of the world. Let’s commit together to demonstrate the love of Jesus in the coming days.
Yours in Christ,
